Like you, we know that kids have needs – lots of them! Especially when it comes to eating right and staying healthy while on the go. We also understand making good, healthful choices with kids is an everyday challenge, and the “y-word” is always on the tips of their tongues.
When we dreamed up Mighty Foodz , we put our passion for active living and respect for scientifically-based nutrition to work with one goal: creating healthy, responsible products that meet the needs of active kids. Since we’re parents ourselves we take our work seriously, and we hold our products to the highest standards in nutrition, convenience and taste.
Good nutrition makes good sense
Remember the food pyramid from your own school days? Well, it’s still around, and it’s been adapted to address the needs of youngsters (who need all the good nutrition you do, and then some). In general, the USDA recommends* the following target amounts for children 6 - 11 years old.
- 6 oz of grains packed with energy-releasing carbohydrates
- 2.5 cups of vegetables that deliver essential vitamins and minerals
- 1.4 cups of fruit for whole-body health plus a flavorful boost of energy
- 3 cups of dairy (2 cups for kids 2 - 8) to provide calcium that keeps bones strong
- 5 oz of meats & beans loaded with muscle-building proteins
